Lake Street Dive‘s 2016 album, Side Pony, showed a move towards a more cohesive sound.  Rachael Price sings, and Mike Calabrese, Bridget Kearney,  and Mike Olson write their songs.  For Side Pony, the band worked with Grammy-winning producer, Dave Cobb.  Despite Cobb’s entrenched spot in roots and twang, they created a dance-able record for adults.  (Interestingly, St. Paul and the Broken Bones recorded Young Sick Camellia there, too.)  Side Pony landed on many Best of 2016 lists.
