Deep Dive Under the Covers “Ziggy Stardust”

David Bowie’s title track from his Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars concept album tracks the lifespan of the character.

Listeners may be surprised that I learned of  “Ziggy Stardust” from the Bauhaus version.  I knew the radio-popular Bowie, but I had not heard the Ziggy Stardust album at the time.  It’s now one of my “desert island” albums.

String bands love to make crazy cover songs, and the Gourds were known for their choices.  Even Snoop Dogg likes their version of “Gin and Juice!”  More recently, frontman Kevin Russell performs a revue called Shinyribs, who are playing a FREE show in historic Bennettsville, SC, this Saturday!
