Cottage Cheese Recalled Over Plastic, Metal Contamination

While cottage cheese might not be as popular as it once was, apparently enough people still eat it for the FDA to announce a recall over a potential contamination.

Several varieties of Breakstone’s Cottage Cheese have been found to contain fragments of plastic and metal, the FDA revealed on Tuesday. Although six people have reported finding the foreign particles in the product, none have fallen ill as a result, the agency says.

Nevertheless, the FDA is warning cottage cheese connoisseurs to not use the Breakstone’s brand; instead, it should be returned to the store from where it was purchased for a full refund.

How do fragments of metal and plastic keep ending up in prepackaged food? Have you ever eaten something, only to find out later it had been recalled?

Have you bitten into something unexpected before?
