A heatwave continues to grip parts of the country and it’s also forcing us to change routines. Locally, WIS shared a heat index forecast, showing today and this week could feel like 105, 106, and 107 with possible stray storms from the humidity increase. What’s the best way to adapt and stay safe? Here are some tips on beating the extreme heat:

  • If you don’t have air conditioning, find a place that does like a mall, movie theater, or a cooling station
  • Stay hydrated with a mix of water and electrolyte drinks
  • If you must exercise (like walking or running) do so with extreme caution or power walk in a mall instead
  • Try and avoid alcohol or caffeine when out in the heat
