Local Distillery Pivots to Making Hand Sanitizer

Cayce micro-distillery, Southern Essence Distilling, rapidly switched gears this past week.  Normally, they make spirits like whiskey, rum, and cordials, but with the permission of the government bureau in charge of alcohol production, they switched to making hand sanitizer using the approved World Health Organization (WHO) recipe.

Southern Essence Distilling donated their first several batches to local law enforcement agencies.

Currently, they are limited in production by the absence of hydrogen peroxide and the cost of the tiny sanitized bottles.

Venetia Sharpe joined Sloane Spencer by phone on the Morning Dive to talk about their process.

What an amazing local small business–giving back while their own business is hurting due to people wisely staying home!
