Tropical Storm Debby spent some time over the Atlantic Ocean yesterday, but that doesn’t mean it’s done with the east coast. The storm made its second landfall last night on the South Carolina coast and is forecast to bring an extra three to nine inches of rain on top of what has already fallen; that could lead to maximum storm totals as high as 25-inches in South Carolina and 15-inches in North Carolina. It won’t stop there, either; as it continues to move up the coast, up to six inches of rain is expected to fall from Maryland through upstate New York and Vermont.

Debby has left disastrous flooding in its wake, with some parts of Florida still underwater. Gov. Ron DeSantis toured Sarasota yesterday and told reporters that both people and businesses would need help to recover. Florida state senator John Gruters, who represents Sarasota and Manatee counties, is calling for a state investigation into why the floodwaters in Sarasota are so deep and are lasting so long.
