Neil Young says he can’t get US citizenship this month because of his marijuana affinity.  According to Young, he passed all of the interviews and tests, but due to a recent change in the definition of “good moral character,” his application has been delayed.  Apparently, despite marijuana use being legal in some states, documented usage (such as Young’s) can block one’s citizenship application status.

I’m conflicted about these policies — I choose not to drink, smoke, or use substances because of the extensive addiction many of my loved ones have battled.  At the same time, if it’s legal, how can we block him?

What do y’all think about this?  With so many states legalizing marijuana, should Young’s usage keep him from becoming a US citizen?
